Bardolino - Culture
The old town centre of Bardolino is of considerable interest, enclosed by the ruins of the Veronese walls and with the ruins of the towers and ancient churches. The eleventh century Roman style church of San Severo houses frescoes of some of the scenes of the Apocalypse, the churches of San Vito and San Zeno, the twelfth century church of San Nicolò and the Ancient Monastery of San Colombano are, on the other hand, pre-Romanesque. Several villas also dot the territory of Bardolino. Villa Bottagisio, Villa Guerrieri, Villa Marzan, Villa Raimondi and Villa Giuliari-Gianfilippi were all built during the nineteenth century. Near the harbour in Bardolino you can find Palazzo Gelmetti, a Keep and the Loggia Rambaldi and in the Cisano area you can visit the Parish church of Santa Maria. On the Rock we can also find the ruins of the Priory of San Colombano, the Salesiano Tusini Institute and the Camaldolese Hermitage. There is also a museum dedicated to wine and olive oil.
